Gentel Biosciences, Inc. is a multiplex immunoassay-based life sciences company. Gentel's mission is to deliver new standards in discovery, medical care, and public safety through the application of proprietary miniaturized tests. Gentel's technology offers a unique and powerful surface chemistry that simplifies protein measurements. The power of Gentel's thin-film nitrocellulose delivers all the benefits of protein detection with the ease of use of a sandwich immunoassay. Gentel has incorporated its proprietary surface chemistry for protein detection into a universal platform that is broadly applicable in the life sciences industry.

Gentel® Biosciences, Inc. was founded in 2000 as a surface chemistry company focused on the development of innovative chemistries to support miniaturized testing of biological molecules. Gentel's early success came with the commercialization of an ultra-thin film nitrocellulose slide designed specifically for protein microarray applications. This proprietary surface chemistry technology is now the platform of choice for industry leaders such as Invitrogen (ProtoArray™) and Pierce-ThermoFisher (ExcelArray™).

Building on its success with this surface chemistry technology and proving that its nitrocellulose slides provide the best in performance for multiplex immunoassays, Gentel expanded its expertise to include the design, development and validation of protein array products.

Gentel's service business of developing and validating custom antibody arrays has expanded to include a fee-for-sample screening service. These services include arraying specific antibodies or antigens, developing and validating specific assays, and screening pre-clinical and clinical samples.

In 2006 the company changed its name from Gentel BioSurfaces to Gentel Biosciences to better reflect the changes in its core competency and its success in delivering high quality products and services to the life science marketplace.

Recently, Gentel acquired the protein chip platform assets of GlaxoSmithKline, Inc., one of the world's largest pharmaceutical companies. The newly acquired protein chip platform consists of validated assays, specialized instrumentation, and custom software for data handling and analysis. This platform allows for the complete automation of multiplex immunoassay development and screening.

Since its inception, Gentel has been awarded more than $2 million in funding from the National Institutes of Health for the development of novel protein arrays. The company now has a fully-equipped facility in Madison, Wisconsin. This facility includes a dedicated BSL2 laboratory for processing biological samples and an isolated Class 1000 clean room facility for production and packaging.

Gentel's business has and continues to focus on protein microarray product and service excellence, driven by the delivery of protein microarray data you can trust.
