Gentel BioSurfaces to Use Grant Money to Jump Start International Marketing Effort

MADISON, WIS. – GenTel BioSurfaces, Inc., a four-year-old biotechnology firm has obtained funding for its international marketing efforts through a Wisconsin Department of Commerce program, company officials said today. GenTel BioSurfaces manufactures and sells high quality biochips to the life sciences, pharmaceutical and diagnostics research industries.

According to Alex Vodenlich, GenTel CEO, the grant will allow GenTel BioSurfaces to highlight its recent product launch at the international biotechnology trade show Chips to Hits, to be held September 19-23 in Boston, MA.

Representatives of foreign-based firms comprise more than 30 percent of the Chips to Hits attendees, Vodenlich said. These representatives could open significant opportunities in foreign markets for GenTel’s portfolio of biochip products.

The Wisconsin Department of Commerce Trade Show Grant Program provides financial assistance to small- and medium-sized manufacturers seeking to expand their export sales by exhibiting at international trade shows.

“Presenting at the Chips to Hits trade show provides us the opportunity to meet with vendors and distributors from around the world, to demonstrate the strength of our technologies and our products, and to do it in an efficient and focused manner,” Vodenlich said. “It is part of a broader effort on our part to make GenTel’s products highly visible to our target markets in the US and worldwide. Our participation in the Wisconsin Department of Commerce’s Trade Show Grant Program is a significant boost to these efforts.”

GenTel BioSurfaces, Inc. was founded in 2000 and is located in the University Research Park. The company’s technology is centered on surface chemistries for life sciences and encompasses microfluidics, detection techniques and biochip applications development.
