Gentel Biosciences Appoints New Board Of Directors Member

Kendrick-Parker brings more than 20 years of experience in the life science industry to the Board. Most recently, he spent 9 years at Affymetrix, Inc. where as a Vice President he managed all aspects of sales and marketing for the Global Pharma Business Unit. Prior to that, Kendrick-Parker was responsible for market development of the company’s genetics business, establishing key contacts and key applications that drove the growth of the genome scanning market and chromosomal copy number applications. Kendrick-Parker’s professional and academic background also includes a stint with Amersham Pharmacia as part of the drug discovery services team and 12 years of training in molecular and cellular biology in the Department of Human Oncology at the University of Wisconsin (UW) Comprehensive Cancer Center. While there, he worked with notable investigators like V. Craig Jordan to develop important cancer drugs including Tamoxifen.

“I am excited by the opportunity to help guide GenTel into its next stage of growth. The company is uniquely positioned to aid in personalized medicine and drug development by providing precise multiplexed measurements that are required to produce the next generation of drugs and methods to diagnose disease,” said Kendrick-Parker.

Kendrick-Parker joins a strong team of advisors that currently serve on the Board of Directors, including Dr. Lloyd Smith. Dr. Smith, a co-founder of the company, is a professor of Chemistry at the UW-Madison and Director of the UW Genome Center. Smith has been a member of the Board since 2004.

”Chris brings to the Board a unique combination of skills gained from his years of experience with Affymetrix in the DNA microarray industry,” Smith said, adding that Parker’s “knowledge and perspective will undoubtedly assist GenTel in developing effective selling strategies for the protein array market.” Likewise, “his industry connections will help create new business opportunities for GenTel’s products and services,” Smith said.
